CCC má v plánu další překlady filmu do dalších jazyků, kterými mluví i méně než 100000 lidí. „Nyní dostupných 1000 jazykových verzí může posloužit asi 90 procentům obyvatel světa. Ti již mohou největší příběh všech dob shlédnout ve svém rodném jazyku,“ řekl John Meyer, jeden z překladatelů filmu. Zdroj: Evangelical News, Charisma News

JESUS FILM TRANSLATED INTO ITS 1,000TH LANGUAGE

Sources: Evangelical News, Charisma News
The Jesus film, which chronicles Christ’s life based on the Gospel of Luke, recently announced the completion of its 1,000th language translation. This milestone enables the film to reach more than 1 million Indian people, whose “heart language” is Ho. “Our goal is to reach every nation, tribe, people and tongue, helping them see and hear the story of Jesus in a language they can understand,” the film’s Web site stated. First produced by Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) in 1979, the film has since spread throughout the world and touched the lives of an estimated 6 billion people. In the small country of Papua New Guinea, an estimated 165,000 people have prayed the prayer of salvation as a result of watching the docudrama. CCC plans to continue to translate the film in to other languages focusing their efforts on languages spoken by more than 100,000 people. “Those 1,000 languages mean that over 90 percent of the people in the world can hear, in their own language, the greatest story ever told,” says John Meyer, one of the films translators.

8 HOUSE CHURCH PASTORS DETAINED IN 2 CHINESE PROVINCES

China Aid Association (CAA) reports eight house church leaders have been detained in Shandong and Shaanxi provinces in June 2007. CAA, which has close contacts with China's house church movement, said security forces arrested a dozen church leaders on Saturday, June 9, while they distributed Bibles at a market place in Shaanxi province. Four of them were released the same day and six others on June 15. Eyewitnesses reported that Bibles and other Christian literatures were confiscated. Officers told the families of the detained pastors that “any religious activities without permission from the government Religious Affairs Bureau is regarded as evil cult activities.” The two detained pastors could face sentences of up to three years re-education through labor.

In a separate incident, six House church leaders in Shandong province remain detained since Friday, June 15. On that day, six House church pastors were taken away by security forces at around 4 p.m. while having a house church worship service. Among them, Zhang Gaiming, 43, and Sun Qingwen, also 43, were from Shangqiu county, Shandong province while the other four, including Ms. Peng Yufeng, 42, and Zhao Yongsheng, 50, are local pastors. The names of the other two detainees were unavailable. All six remain detained under threat of being sent to re-education through labor camp if they refused to pay fines of approximately $1500.

SEMINAR CONDENSES 9 MONTHS OF DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING INTO 1 WEEK

Source: Mission Network News
Dave Tippit of Sammy Tippit Ministries recently returned from India where he led the first of three weeklong intensive discipleship training seminars scheduled for this summer through Eternal Concepts. Fifty university-aged students in Madurai took part in the seminar, an adaptation of a nine-month version held in San Antonio, Texas. Students spent 16 hours each day at the seminar. The days consisted of worship, quiet time and discussions. Topics such as prayer, humility, Christianity and culture around the world were also discussed, and students read and studied the Gospels in-depth. During the second trip planned for Romania in July, Tippit will hold more than 20 lectures on the previously mentioned topics. In addition, he plans to visit orphanages and schools to distribute “fun” items as well as necessities to children. Tippit will also hold training in the Philippines in October. The format will be the same as the previous seminars, but the 100 students in attendance will also be introduced to video speakers.

10 CHRISTIAN CONVERTS BEATEN, THREATENED BY MUSLIMS IN BANGLADESH

Source: Compass Direct News
Muslim villagers armed with bricks and wooden clubs savagely beat 10 Christian converts in Nilphamari district, Bangladesh, on Tuesday, June 26, and threatened to burn down their homes if they did not leave by the next day. The mob gave the Christians an ultimatum to leave the village within 24 hours, threatening more beatings along with home burnings; Muslim extremists also threatened to kill two Christians. After receiving news of the beating, a human rights advocate traveled to Durbachari Bhatiapara and Laksmirdanga villages to find that the mob had bound both male and female converts with ropes in their homes and “seriously wounded” them. Several victims required hospital treatment, and one house was destroyed in the attack. Police rejected the Christians’ attempt to file a complaint, instead threatening to arrest them for “converting Muslims.” The attack came after 42 men and women from Muslim backgrounds were baptized at a local river on June 12. Within days, authorities at the mosque in Durbachari banned Christians from using the village tube-well, a serious deprivation as it is the area’s only source of potable water. The Christians have since resorted to carrying water from a river nearly a half mile from their homes. Muslim extremists also issued death threats against two villagers appointed as leaders of the new converts.

POLL: AMERICANS TRUST MILITARY, POLICE MORE THAN THE CHURCH

Source: WorldWide Religious News
According to a new Gallup Poll, U.S. residents trust the military and the police force significantly more than the church and organized religion. Only 46 percent of respondents said they had either a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the church compared with 69 percent who said they trusted the military and 54 percent who trust police officers. The figures are among the lowest for institutionalized religion in the three-and-a-half decades that Gallup has conducted the poll. Peaking at 68 percent in May 1975, the numbers bottomed out at 45 percent in June 2003. While confidence is waning for organized religion, the numbers are even bleaker for other U.S. institutions. Just 25 percent expressed confidence in the presidency while a mere 14 percent say they trust Congress. The poll was conducted by telephone June 14-17. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.
