Filipínský arcibiskup se při svém tažení proti hazardu odstrašit nedá
Přes urážlivá obvinění hodlá filipínský arcibiskup pokračovat ve své usilovné kritice vládou podporovaných hazardních her a úředního požehnání nezákonného hazardu, jak to on sám nazývá. „Ani ocelové mříže vězeňské kobky mně nemohu zastavit v mém boji proti povolenému i nezákonnému hazardu, který tato vláda podporuje,“ řekl římskokatolický arcibiskup Oscar Cruz z Lingayen na Panganisam. ONE CHILD POLICY INCREASES DIFFICULTY OF CHINA'S QUAKE RECOVERY

Source: MNN
China's one-child policy is exacting a great price following the recent earthquake. Of more than 22,000 reported deaths in the quake, many were students in schools, with experts blaming substandard building practices, materials and construction for collapsed education facilities. Many parents have had one child, and that one child was lost, according to Sue Hyde of International Bible Society-Send The Light. "Right now, they do not feel hope; they do not feel any kind of comfort," she said. "They feel very desperate." Her agency is providing survivors with disaster journals to help people walk through their grieving process. "Disaster survivors often have similar questions," Hyde said. The one-child policy was launched in the late 1970s to rein in China's exploding population and ensure better education and health care.

Christians in the North African country of Algeria are appealing for prayer and support from the international community amid a government crackdown on churches and suspected evangelists. Barnabas Fund, which assists allegedly persecuted Christians in Muslim nations, told BosNewsLife that the Algeria has "seen a sharp rise in official and unofficial discrimination against [active evangelical] Christians over the last few months." The group said about half the country's Protestant congregations, including some 20 churches this year alone, have been ordered to close, although "many of them were operating officially for many years." In addition "numerous" Christians were arrested on "questionable charges," Barnabas Fund claimed.
